The experience

Start in handcuffs, end in the warden's files

Your crew got stitched up and thrown in the old Boggo Road-style lockup. The opening is split — half the team in one cell, half in another — so the first ten minutes are pure communication. Get the cuffs off, work the corridor, and figure out what the warden was really doing in that office.

Escape rate sits around 55%. It punishes teams that don't talk and rewards ones that do — which is exactly why we suggest it for first games and mixed groups.

  • Split start — the team begins separated and has to communicate through a barred door.
  • Tactile puzzles: key impressions, cell-bar mechanisms, a genuinely sneaky hiding spot.
  • No jump scares — tension comes from the clock, not actors.

How it works

Your session, step by step

A standard Prison Break session runs about 80 minutes door to door. The split start means the briefing matters — listen for the hint rules.

Step 01

Book your slot

Online via the contact form or call +61 7 3029 1568 — we answer between 10:00 and 22:00.

Step 02

Get to Adelaide St

Basement level, 166 Adelaide St. Arrive 15 minutes early; there's street parking and the Central station is 5 minutes on foot.

Step 03

Briefing and cuffs

Rules, story, then we split the team and start you in the cells. It's the best part — watch everyone's face.

Step 04

The escape attempt

60 minutes, three game zones, unlimited communication. The hint button is there — good teams use it twice.

Step 05

Debrief in the warden's office

Your game master shows the puzzles you skipped and the ones you solved sideways.

Step 06

Wall of fame

Beat the record and your team name goes on the corridor wall. Current record: 41:18.

Prison Break is usually run by Josh — he reset this room roughly 2,400 times and still laughs when teams miss the obvious key. He watches the whole run on camera and times hints so they feel like discoveries, not giveaways.

FAQ

Prison Break — quick answers

Something we didn't cover? Message us through the contact page — we answer fast.

It's the one we recommend. The split start teaches communication fast, the puzzles ramp up gradually, and a 55% escape rate means most groups finish feeling clever rather than crushed.

No. The cell door is magnet-held for the game, but there's an always-open release — plus your game master watches every second. Claustrophobic players do fine here.

Light. There's some crouching and reaching, no crawling and nothing that needs strength. If anyone in your group has mobility needs, tell us at booking and we'll flag the spots.

Kids 10+ work well in a family team — younger ones find the theme a bit grim. Under 16s play with an adult in the room.
