The experience

A heist that feels real because we built it that way

You're a crew of specialists with one hour inside the old Commonwealth Bank vault. The drill: bypass the pressure plates, decode the manager's ledger and get out before the night guard finishes his round. We poured concrete-look walls, fitted a 200-kilo replica vault door and hid the best puzzle where nobody looks first.

It's the hardest room we run, and the one we recommend when a group asks for 'the real one'. About 1,900 teams have tried it since we opened — the escape rate sits at 38%, which is exactly where we want it.

  • Physical puzzles — magnet locks, gears, a working pneumatic tube — not just padlocks on chains.
  • A dedicated game master watches your run live and nudges only when you're properly stuck.
  • Full briefing, debrief and team photo included in every session.

How it works

Your session, step by step

From booking to debrief a session takes about 80 minutes. Here's what actually happens once you lock a slot.

Game master briefing a team before The Vault escape room
Step 01

Book online or call

Pick a slot on the contact page or ring +61 7 3029 1568. No prepayment for standard bookings — pay on arrival.

Step 02

Arrive 15 minutes early

We're in the basement at 166 Adelaide St. Grab a locker, sign the waiver, meet your game master.

Step 03

Briefing — 10 minutes

Safety rules, how the hint button works, and the story setup. Ask questions now; inside you're on your own.

Step 04

60 minutes in the vault

The door closes, the clock starts. Three hints if you need them — asking costs nothing, pride is free.

Step 05

Debrief and photo

Win or lose, your game master walks you through what you missed. Team photo under the vault door.

Step 06

Plan the next one

Most groups book a second room on the way out. We keep a 'return crew' discount for exactly that.

Every room at Cazinnie is a different world. Most groups come back within a month — the second room is where the rivalry starts.

Run by people who love puzzles, not actors reading a script

The Vault is looked after by Mitch and Sarah — they built half the mechanisms themselves and reset every box between sessions. When you ask for a hint, you're talking to someone who watched your exact move.

FAQ

The Vault — quick answers

Something we didn't cover? Message us through the contact page — we answer fast.

Honestly, it's our toughest room. First-timers do escape it — about a third manage — but if your group has never played, Prison Break is the gentler entry. That said, the hint system means you'll never sit staring at a wall for 20 minutes.

Two to six per session, always private — we never mix groups. Got seven or more? Book two back-to-back slots or look at the team-building format, which runs up to 24 people across rooms.

Not scary — it's a heist, not a horror room. The space is a proper room, not a box, and the door is never physically locked. Anyone can step out at any time.

Kids 12+ do fine as part of a family team. Under that age the puzzles get frustrating fast — the family room was built exactly for that gap.
